The Pet Portrait Ordering Process: From Photo to Finished Art

The Pet Portrait Ordering Process: From Photo to Finished Art

The pet portrait ordering process at Pawlazzo is simple: you pick a style, upload photos of one pet, and review three free previews. You only pay if you like one of the versions; your chosen portrait arrives as a high-resolution digital file, with canvas prints currently available for delivery in Hungary. The steps below show you exactly what to check before making each decision.

1. Choose a style: what fits your pet best?

Before looking for photos, think about where the portrait will hang or who it is for. A subtle, classic look creates a very different mood than a playful theme based on hobbies or seasons. You do not need to worry about which animal appears in the sample image: the finished portrait is always created for your own pet.

For example, in The Gentleman style, imagine your dog as a Victorian gentleman in a turquoise velvet coat, cream waistcoat, and silk cravat. If your pet’s expression matters most, do not judge by the costume alone: check the previews to make sure their gaze and facial features remain instantly recognizable.

Your choice of style is not final at this stage. If the result does not match the mood you were hoping for, you can try another style before paying. If you are ordering the portrait as a gift, you will find more ideas in our guide on gift ideas for pet owners who already have everything.

2. Prepare a clear photo of a single pet

Upload photos of just one pet per portrait: dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, and reptiles all work. You can upload up to three photos in JPEG, PNG, or WebP format. Before starting, pick a sharp, well-lit photo where their face is clearly visible. Natural daylight works best, and photos from multiple angles help capture an accurate likeness.

Do not automatically reach for your favorite snapshot. If their head is blurry, their face is cast in shadows, or your pet is too far from the camera, look for a clearer shot instead. You can check right on your phone: zoom in on their eyes and facial contours. If these details are not clear in the original photo, it will be harder to judge the likeness in your previews.

If you want portraits of several pets, plan a separate portrait for each one. Choosing the same style allows you to create a matching gallery set, with one pet featured on each portrait.

3. Review three free previews before paying

After uploading, the AI software generates three different watermarked previews in about 30 to 60 seconds. This is where it pays to take your time: while the overall style might look great, choose the specific version where you recognize your pet best.

Compare their eyes, ear shape, unique facial features, and overall expression. Ask yourself whether the portrait is instantly recognizable even at a smaller size, such as on a phone screen. If something feels off, you do not have to settle on one of the three: you can regenerate, upload a different photo, or switch styles as many times as you like. These previews are completely free; you only pay when you order your chosen portrait.

The main question is not just whether the image looks attractive in general, but whether this exact version is the one you want without a watermark. If you are unsure, try a sharper photo or another look before proceeding to checkout.

4. The pet portrait ordering process: digital files and canvas prints

Once you find the version that captures your pet, you order the high-resolution, watermark-free digital file for 29.90 EUR. This is included with every order and can be purchased on its own, leaving you free to print it locally for personal use, share it, or use it as a wallpaper.

If you want a finished piece for your wall, you can have your digital file printed locally, as our physical canvas prints are currently available for delivery in Hungary only (in five sizes, from 15×25 cm up to 60×90 cm, with free shipping there). For deliveries elsewhere, the high-resolution digital file is the ideal option.

Before ordering, make sure you are completely happy with your chosen preview. Payment is handled online via credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay; cash on delivery is not supported. The final decision before checkout is simply deciding how you plan to use and print your high-resolution file.

5. After payment: when and how will your portrait arrive?

Your chosen portrait is delivered as a high-resolution, print-ready digital file without a watermark, sent by email within a few minutes of payment. Where canvas delivery is available (currently in Hungary), production takes about 3 to 5 business days and shipping an additional 1 to 2 business days, with the canvas arriving fully stretched and ready to hang.

If a canvas arrives damaged or defective-such as a print flaw, incorrect size, or warped frame-it must be reported within 14 days of receipt. In such cases, Pawlazzo replaces or reprints it free of charge, or issues a refund if a reprint is not possible. Deciding you dislike the style after ordering is not covered, which is why reviewing your free previews beforehand is so important. Because each portrait is custom-made, the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal does not apply.

If your pet is part of the family and you would love a portrait of them, start with the risk-free step: pick a style, upload a good photo, and explore three free versions among our pet portrait styles before paying anything.

Frequently asked questions

What kind of photo works best for a pet portrait?

Choose a sharp, well-lit photo where your pet's face is clearly visible. Natural daylight and photos taken from multiple angles help capture their true features, making it easier to evaluate the portrait's likeness.

What happens if I do not like the portrait preview?

Do not order simply because you have already invested time into it. Try uploading a clearer source photo, switching to another style, or generating new variations, and only make a purchase once you are completely happy with the result.

Should I choose a digital file or a canvas print?

A digital file is ideal if you prefer printing locally, using the portrait on screens, or sharing it online. A canvas print is convenient if you want a ready-to-hang physical artwork; just make sure to check delivery availability for your country before ordering.

When is the right time to finalize a pet portrait order?

Finalize your order once you clearly recognize your pet's distinctive features in the preview and love the overall mood of the portrait. Before paying, double-check your chosen format and confirm delivery options if you are considering physical prints.
